Global Assets - Vendor

It would be helpful to have global assets that hold common information across all tenants. For example, we could create a Vendor asset (let's say Sonicwall, holding your partner ID, tech support #, etc.) and relate it to every Sonicwall firewall asset we have deployed. Optionally, make it available for linking in the field entry to enforce it being required in some cases (otherwise, someone might miss the step of relating it after the fact). Being able to relate on the fly during any asset addition could be helpful.

I really can't figure out why this hasn't been implemented when it was requested almost 4 years ago. As stated below, this should be easy to do. We have a "Global KB". If this system was intended to replace our current IT documentation, this should have been created with the 1st version. Please take a look at this and make this happen for us. We have a ton of vendors and while doing a work around company works, it just make more sense to have them in a global section not tied to a fake company. Thanks!

This would be very useful to have. Vendors are a good example of an asset type that should be shared across all clients.
If we will be adding a global asset type, it would be handy to have the ability to reassign a client's asset to a global pool I expect there to be a lot of that.

It would be great if this were allowed.
Right now, the work around is to add all Vendors to a PLACE Holder Company, then when you add a new asset, just add a new Related Item, uncheck "Limit to <company Name>" and then select the vendor from the Place Holder Company.

Martyn Smith hello, they released an uograde not long ago where they now allow you to search globaly. That said, if you have a unique vendors list under each client, you can togle the opion right under the field for global search, and that will allow you to search for entries from other clients.

To add to this request, you should be able to pull from Orgs if you wanted to setup brand/ vendors as a source for a global asset with the option to filter the dropdown by org type.
Global Assets - Data that isn't associated with clients/orgs and do not show under a client custom asset column but the data is used to populate fields globally in asset types.
A new field type to pull and filter data from the client lists for those of us who want the level of detail an org has for filling an asset "brand" drop down might be advantages over a global asset type for brands where things contact info, address, user etc. would get duped.

This should be very easy to add as the same code used for Company Assets can be used to create Global Vendor Assets. We track what ISP(s) each location uses, and need to link that to ISP contact info. Just today we had an Internet outage that was caused by a power outage so we are adding what power company services each customer site and need to link that to the power company Global Vendor Asset that will include the link for the outage map for the power company so we can check that before dispatching a tech. Very easy (should take less than a day) to add and huge improvement to HUDU.

Eric B. FYI- You can already do this by creating a Vendor asset type and placing it within a company created for this purpose. Not the perfect solution, but still works well. ("Hiding blanks" option in the sidebar will have the Vendor type not appear anywhere else)

Paul G.: I don't think you're understanding. We need a way to have global assets across multiple companies, not templates.

Robert S.: I do understand and I never mentioned templates. What I did say was that it isn't a great solution.
I have since settled for a better option which is Global KB vendor/application folders with table of contents documents at each level.. with the tag for example pointing to an article called "Vendor: Microsoft" which includes that stuff.
