Domain Name Tracking

Was just going to create a similar request and found this one. Thanks search!
Domain names are not web sites. Granted, we can simulate the need to track only certain aspects of a website record by unchecking the options, but finding a better way to differentiate them would make entering records easier for engineers.
Perhaps a separate asset type for domain names with only whois check as an option. Then when you create a website asset Hudu could look up domains that are documented and present relevant information in the website record.
Also, wish we could add fields to the canned website asset type.

I know there are a few similar ideas - it would be great if the website tool was changed completely to be a domain tool, then, the ability to add subdomains and turn the different elements (SSL/Uptime etc.) on/off easily.
It seems to work well at the moment, but, still needs https when adding and then I always have the brain fart of "should I add www/no www" etc. - we should just be able to add without anything and add www as the alias/sub domain...

William H.: Completely agree. The functionality is there, it just needs some very minor tweaking

I had this feature in our old doc system, it is one thing I will surely miss. Hoping we can see something like this in Hudu.

Andrew B.: What system is that?

Since the update to 2.0.8, you can do this. Just add the domain-name under websites and then disable website monitoring since there is no website associated with the domain-name. This will still allow you to track expiration and such.

Would be good to have DNS monitored with historical history so changes can be viewed.

Andrew H.: I agree, change management for DNS would be nice.

Andrew H.: I assumed that is already in place? If not, it's not complete in my opinion.
