I'm too lazy to create a separate asset then link - it would be amazing to be able to create a linked asset from inside an existing asset.. for instance, I'm in a workstation asset and want to create a related backup job asset. In the right panel, be able to quickly search for backup asset and create (perhaps in popup or new browser tab). Saving the clicks of creating a separate and linking would be huge.

If you put a linked asset field on a form, on the edge of the search window, add an "Add New" option, allowing for on-the-fly asset creation when the related item does not yet exist. Without it, a tech is stuck if they don't enter everything in the right order. I would just open the new asset form in a new window after prompted for the type of asset to create.
