API Custom Asset Card or API-Only Fields

We use some automation to modify/set some fields on assets, however the fields can be edited manually. This can cause loss of changes if a person updates a field that the automation then comes back through and reverts.
If we could make an API asset card (similar to how the Autotask or NCentral integration does) that would be ideal.
Alternatively, if a field could be flagged API only, and become read-only for users that could work.
To give an easy example, we have a Workstation asset which we update to have a link to the Autotask configuration item & NCentral Device. These are currently just "Website" fields on the asset layout.

This would be hugely beneficial for writing custom integrations. Also for things like the new CIPP integration. It prevents having to write a tremendous amount of data into a richtext field as well as the issues Troy points out
